Mark Wahlberg is the reason Blake Shelton will become a movie star. There is a small catch, though.

Shelton received recognition on Friday at Keep Memory Alive’s 27th annual Power of Love Gala, which is devoted to brain illness care and research.

Shelton received recognition for his charitable work, according to People magazine.

Shelton participated in and won the event’s first life-auction. He placed a bid to play a walk-on part in a future Mark Wahlberg movie. Shelton paid the offer $40,000 in full.

In addition to acting in six of his own films, Mark Wahlberg has produced them since 2020. IMDb claims that he is working on multiple films. Participants in the previous year’s event had a chance to win a golf outing with Wahlberg.

Shelton spent some cash, performed three songs, and then asked his wife, Gwen Stefani, to come to the celebration. After that, they sang their duet, “Nobody But You.”

“His heart is as big as his voice,” Stefani told the audience of her husband, per People. “His talent is obvious and he lights up the room and brings a smile to everyone he meets that makes us all love him so much. So whether he’s supporting an important cause and organizations across the country, he’s an incredible person.”

“He supports veterans. He supports children’s hospitals, food banks, supports people with disabilities, disaster relief efforts, wildlife conservation or local communities in need, Blake’s generosity is genuine and endless,” she added. “His dedication to giving back and making a difference and using his platform for good, both publicly and behind the scenes is truly inspiring.”

Shelton made light earlier in the evening of his possible move into the film industry. “I’m not sure whether any of you witnessed the auction earlier. Maybe this is the last country music performance I do. I’m suddenly a movie star. I’m not around to f——.”

Shelton would be making a career move at a good moment, having just resigned from his coaching role on “The Voice” after 23 seasons.

Shelton recently discussed his decision to leave the show with Entertainment Tonight, acknowledging that “every day feels a little bit better” since his departure in 2023. “I feel better about that decision.”

Shelton did, however, mention that he would be interested in going back in one particular situation. “If they were ever able to put together the original four coaches again, maybe [I’d return] for one season, a one-off,” he said. “I think that would be enjoyable. Regarding getting back together with CeeLo Green, Christina Aguilera, and Adam Levine, he stated, “That would be something I would be interested in doing.”
