Suspect in Amazon Workplace Shooting:

The shooting occurred at the Amazon plant in the 6400 block of State Route 29 Northeast in West Jefferson at approximately 4:45 p.m. By the time cops from numerous agencies arrived, the man, who worked at the facility, had fled and was still at large. Then, around 90 minutes later, investigators discovered the unidentified person near Georgesville and Clime roads.

What do the Officials Say?

A Columbus police dispatcher verified to WSYX that the individual fired at least one shot, which hit a CPD officer. That dispatcher also stated at 6:50 p.m. that the suspected Amazon gunman was in critical condition at Doctors West Hospital, and approximately 10 minutes later verified that the guy had died. The dispatcher was originally unable to confirm whether he had been shot by a cop, but later Sunday night, FOP President Brian Steel confirmed to ABC 6 that officers had fired back at the individual.

There were no injuries reported at Amazon, but West Jefferson Police Chief Brandon Smith informed Karli VanCleave at 6:25 p.m. that “there were bullet holes on the front entry and the glass. (The shooter) didn’t go any further than the front area of the building.” Multiple authorities rushed to the event, and when they arrived, employees were already being evacuated. A witness at the Georgesville-Clime incident mentioned Sunday’s holiday while mourning the violence.
