What Was the Amazon Workplace Incident?

Following a brief altercation with Columbus police, a man who was believed to have fled the scene after firing numerous rounds at an Amazon fulfillment site on Sunday passed away.

At around 4:45 p.m., there was a gunshot at the Amazon plant located in the 6400 block of State Route 29 Northeast in West Jefferson. The individual was an employee of that institution, and by the time various agency police arrived, he had gone and was on the loose.

Then, around ninety minutes later, the unidentified individual was discovered by the police at Georgesville and Clime roads.

WSYX received confirmation from a Columbus police dispatcher that the individual fired at least one shot, striking a CPD officer. Additionally, the same dispatcher reported that the suspected Amazon shooter was at Doctors West Hospital in serious condition at 6:50 p.m., and ten minutes later, it was verified that the guy had passed away.

At first, the dispatcher was unable to verify if a cop had shot the man. However, FOP President Brian Steel subsequently confirmed to ABC 6 that officers had shot the victim.

The dispatcher verified to Cahnnels that the injured officer, who has also not been released, was classified as stable at Grant Medical Center.

Steel said outside Grant Medical Center late on Sunday night, “The officer’s doing good, by the grace of God.”

At around 6:25 p.m., West Jefferson Police Chief Brandon Smith informed Karli VanCleave that “there were bullets on the front entry and the glass. (The shooter) didn’t go further than the front area of the building.” No injuries were reported at Amazon.com in the incident.

As many organizations arrived to deal with the situation, they discovered workers had already been evacuated.

A witness lamented the violence and mentioned Sunday’s holiday at the Georgesville-Clime site.
