Florida Police Search for Missing Woman: How did Sylvia Pagan end up?

According to authorities, a guy who was thought to have abducted a woman from Tampa and her 9-year-old daughter has been discovered dead.

An AMBER alert was sent out early on Monday morning regarding a 9-year-old girl from Tampa who was reported missing. It was thought that she and her mother, 34-year-old Sylvia Pagan, had been kidnapped.

Is Sylvia Pagan Still Alive?

After the kidnapper she was allegedly with was discovered dead and the kidnapped child was freed, Tampa police are still looking for the missing mother.

According to authorities, Sylvia Pagan, 34, was first mentioned as a potential companion on an Amber Alert for 9-year-old Briana Pagan that was sent out at approximately one in the morning on Monday.

Jovanni Caceres Steffani, 38, the alleged kidnapper named on the Amber Alert, took his own life in Suwannee County at 2 a.m. on Monday after shooting himself.

About 45 minutes after it was issued, the Amber Alert was withdrawn. Despite not being injured, Briana Pagan was sent to a hospital out of caution.

Subsequently, Sylvia Pagan was the subject of a second notice from the Tampa Police Department, describing her as “missing and endangered.” Steffani or Briana Pagan was nowhere to be located with Sylvia Pagan.

According to authorities, she was last seen on Sunday about 10 a.m. near the 10400 block of Altman Street, as Channels was informed.

Timeline of the Vanishing:

Authorities discovered Steffani and the infant in a Suwannee County hotel room around one hour after the Amber Alert was sent out, As Per the WTSP. Upon answering the door, he spotted Briana Pagan, who was taken into custody by deputies. The young toddler didn’t know where Sylvia Pagan was going.

Subsequently, it is believed that Steffani took a pistol from the restroom and shot himself to death.

According to police, Sylvia Pagan and Steffani slept over at her residence on Saturday night and departed at approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday, according to WTSP. Upon searching the home, authorities discovered no proof of injuries or domestic abuse.

“As detectives diligently try to locate Sylvia Pagan, we are apprehensive for her complete well-being,” the police told Channels.

Pagan is estimated to be 5 feet 3 inches and 155 pounds. When last spotted, she was donning an unidentified colored clothing. Her hair is black, although it can be slightly colored.

What is an Amber Alert?

An Amber Alert is a public service announcement requesting help locating missing children.

An Amber Alert may only be issued under certain situations. Law enforcement must conclude that an abduction has taken place and that the child is at immediate risk of death or severe damage. The youngster must be under the age of eighteen. The alarm must be recommended to be activated by the law enforcement agency, and a thorough description of the kid, the kidnapper, or the abductor’s vehicle must be provided.

As of 2023, more than 1,200 children had been located thanks to Amber notifications, and 180 children had been saved due to wireless emergency notifications.
