Man Shot To Death By Police In Brooklyn After A Knife Encounter
The NYPD claims that an “emotionally disturbed man” was shot by police in Brooklyn during the night after he brandished two knives in front of them.
It happened on Eldert Street in Bushwick at around 2:20 in the morning.
According to the authorities, a man knocked on a police car that had two policemen inside while brandishing two knives.
The officers used their tasers to force the man to drop one of the knives after he disregarded verbal orders to surrender the weapons.
The suspect allegedly brandished a second knife as he charged at the police.
“We try everything we can with emotionally disturbed people to de-escalate,” said NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell.
After both cops fired their weapons, the victim passed away at a local hospital.
