Ohio Mass Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, Dozens Injured: Know More Here
According to the Akron Police Department, a shooting early on Sunday morning in Akron, Ohio, left a 27-year-old man dead and more than 20 injured.
Just after midnight, some 40 miles south of Cleveland, police got complaints about gunfire near Kelly Avenue and 8th Avenue, according to NBC News. What transpired before the shooting is unknown at this time.
“Officers were immediately dispatched and responded to the area,” the Akron Police Department said in a news release. “Shortly after those calls came in, the call centre received notifications from local hospitals that multiple persons were arriving in the emergency departments with gunshot wounds.”
The incident left at least 25 people injured, including the male, 27, who has now passed away. According to authorities, a firearm and “several dozen casings” were found at the shooting scene. In addition to the deceased victim, police earlier stated that 27 people were hurt in all during the incident.
It’s unclear why the gunshot occurred at first, and no suspects are in custody at this moment.
The shooting is still being looked into by the Akron Police Department, which is requesting that anyone with information contact them. Callers can stay anonymous, according to the police.
