On Wednesday night, a shooting at a Sarasota condominium resulted in the deaths of a man and a woman.
Just before nine o’clock at night, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office deputies were summoned to a residence on Stickney Point Road in the Castel Del Mare condominium complex.
Inside the house, deputies reported finding Tesse Kofahl, 44, and Robert Joseph Harrison Jr., 57, suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. They were both declared deceased by the Sarasota County Fire Department.
The website for the condo building states that guests may rent out these units. It was described as a “serene community” on the website, and the local population was small. A neighbour stated that around a month ago, most residents departed for the summer.
Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, there was a noticeable police presence at the apartment; however, by 7 a.m., all law enforcement had departed the area, and the light in the property under investigation had been turned out.
If deputies were searching for a suspect, they did not say so.
According to the sheriff’s office, there is no public threat and the incident seems isolated.
