Rebecca Grossman Sentenced To 15 Years Life Imprisonment: Know More Here

On Monday, a wealthy and influential socialite from Los Angeles was given a sentence ranging from 15 years to life in prison for the deaths of two boys who were killed while crossing the street with their mother and younger brother.

Following her conviction on September 29, 2020, for second-degree murder and other offences related to the crash that killed Mark Iskander, 11, and Jacob Iskander, 8, while they were crossing the street, Rebecca Grossman was sentenced.

Biotech executive Nancy Iskander leapt aside, snatching her five-year-old son Zachary in her arms. However, she saw the collision with her youngest son.

Judge Joseph Brandolino of Los Angeles Superior Court denied the prosecution’s request for a sentence of 34 years to life for Grossman, stating that the length of the sentence is “just not warranted here,” according to Fox Los Angeles. He described the deaths of the children as an “unimaginable loss,” but he also brought up Grossman’s lack of a criminal past and charitable contributions.

Grossman’s “incredibly selfish behaviour” following the incident was acknowledged by Brandolino, but he said, “she’s not a monster as the prosecution attempts to portray her here.”

“The loss of these two innocent lives has devastated their family and our community. Ms Grossman’s blatant disregard for human life is a stark reminder of the grave consequences of irresponsible behaviour behind the wheel,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said.

“Our office pursued this case with the intent to seek justice for the victims and their loved ones, advocating for a sentence that would reflect the severity of the crime. We will continue to support the victims’ families during this difficult time,” he added.

Prosecutors told Fox News Digital that at the time of the 2020 crash, Grossman, 60, was under the influence of prescription medications and alcohol. She was rushing her boyfriend, former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Scott Erickson, home from a restaurant despite being married to renowned Los Angeles physician Dr. Peter Grossman. They were all travelling over 70 mph in Mercedes-Benz SUVs.

As Nancy Iskander once said, she never apologized. According to the prosecution, Grossman abandoned the boys and never came back to the site.

“I am not a murderer, and I ask you to recognize that fact,” Grossman wrote in a letter to the judge. “My pain, my recognition of the pain the Iskanders suffer, and the pain I watch my family endure, are punishments that I already suffer and will for the rest of my life. Please consider this suffering when you consider what more punishment to impose on me in this case.”

Grossman has already completed 111 days in prison and made compensation totaling close to $50,000.
