Renowned Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was taken into custody today about the death of a guy who was accused of sending his co-star lewd texts. In this case, thirteen people—including Darshan and his co-star—have been taken into custody.
Darshan, 47, was taken into custody this morning from his Mysore farmhouse and transported to Bengaluru by the police.

Renuka Swamy, 33, was murdered, and her body was discovered in Bengaluru on June 9. Mr Swamy, a pharmacy employee, was accused of sending “obscene messages” to Darshan’s close friend and co-star Pavithra Gowda on social media.

According to officials, Pavithra Gowda was also detained and interrogated over the homicide.

The capital of Karnataka is more than 200 miles away from Mr. Swamy’s hometown of Chitradurga.

“The 33-year-old man, who has been murdered, has been identified as Renuka Swamy. At first glance, it seems that the deceased had sent objectionable messages to Darshan’s girlfriend,” said B Dayanand, Bengaluru police chief.

Residents who claimed to have witnessed stray dogs pulling a body out of a drain called the police to report the murder. The corpse was marked with wounds. Following investigations, a few people were taken into custody who reportedly told the police where to find Darshan.

In this case, the police have taken multiple persons into custody. During questioning, they disclosed Darshan’s identity. Following this, the police detained him to conduct an investigation,” stated G Parameshwara, the home minister for Karnataka.

After leaving a film shoot in Mysuru this morning, Darshan—dubbed “Challenging Star” by his fans—was pulled up by the police.

The authorities are investigating if Darshan was a part of the scheme or was actively involved in the murder. There are nine more people under arrest in this case.

In Bengaluru’s RR Nagar neighbourhood, Darshan’s home is under strict police guard.

He is not unfamiliar with controversy. He was accused of domestic abuse and spent several nights in jail approximately ten years ago.

The family of Renuka Swamy was inconsolable. “My only son was he. Last year, he tied the knot. I only chatted with him on Saturday. Srinivasaiah, his father, declared, “I want justice.”
