An elected local official acknowledged to an undercover agent that they had sold illicit substances.
Malik Johnston entered a guilty plea to second-degree cocaine distribution on Wednesday.
Pippin Folk is another name for the 48-year-old Democrat, according to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson.
In 2020, Johnston was chosen to serve on the Flemington Borough Council, a position he held until December.
In January and February of last year, he was arrested for selling cocaine and methamphetamine many times in Raritan Township. There were increasing calls for his resignation, but he stayed on the council.
By the terms of the plea agreement, Johnson would be sentenced to five years in jail in August.
In addition, Johnson agreed to reimburse the Flemington Democratic Club for damages, and a June 2023 theft accusation was dropped.
Prosecutors at the time said he had taken $1,000 unlawfully out of the political club’s Bridgewater bank account.
Johnson has also consented to give up a car and money that was taken into custody as illicit assets connected to the narcotics investigation.
