According to the medical examiner, strangulation was the cause of her death. It was unknown if the two suspects had legal representation prior to speaking. As of Thursday afternoon, their names were not in any jail or court records. Early on Monday morning, Jocelyn’s body was discovered in a creek’s shallow waters. The previous evening, Jocelyn crept out of her neighborhood house.
The males were captured on camera meeting up with Jocelyn and then accompanying her to a convenience shop. After that, the three of them strolled over to the bridge where Jocelyn was killed. Jocelyn’s acquaintance with the men who were roommates was still unknown. Police stated that the victim’s medical findings about the sexual assault are still waiting.

The two males, who were then considered persons of interest, were included in pictures that the police had released from their surveillance tape. Surveillance footage was used by investigators to follow Martinez and Ramos’ activities both before and after the murder. Houston Mayor John Whitmire stated earlier this week that Nungaray had snuck out of her family’s apartment and was in a convenience shop talking on the phone with her 13-year-old boyfriend.

Investigators were informed by the boyfriend that he heard Nungaray conversing with two individuals. According to authorities, Martinez and Ramos began their evening together on Sunday night at a restaurant. When they were captured on camera, they left the restaurant and started to walk south. Afterwards, they were observed meeting Nungaray and having a brief conversation with her. Afterwards, Jocelyn, Rangel Martinez, and Pena Ramos strolled to a 7-Eleven convenience store.
Images from the 7-Eleven security camera, where Nungaray was last seen, were made public by the authorities this week. Following that, the three of them strolled over to a bridge where Nungaray was killed. The girl’s body was subsequently left there as Rangel Martinez and Pena Ramos strolled to their shared residence. According to police, the two resided at Nungaray’s apartment building.
