NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Authorities from Berkeley County have confirmed the arrest of an individual following a pursuit that concluded on Rivers Avenue.

The incident commenced as a routine traffic stop conducted by Berkeley County deputies, as stated by Cpl. Carli Drayton. Details regarding the location and reason for the initial stop were not immediately disclosed. Witnesses reported that the pursuit concluded around 9:30 p.m., with Cpl. Drayton mentioning that it ended on Rivers Avenue close to West Montague.

While one person was apprehended, the identity of the individual and the specific charges they are facing have not been made public by the deputies at this time.

A section of Rivers Avenue was temporarily closed off as numerous law enforcement vehicles from Berkeley County and the North Charleston Police Department arrived at the scene in response to the situation.

The roadway has since been reopened for normal traffic flow.
