Unidentified human remains were found near the apartment where 21-year-old Caleb Harris, a missing Texas college student, was last seen before he disappeared on March 4.

The discovery was made by a city employee in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Monday, June 24, in a 40-foot-deep well. The Corpus Christi Police Department was alerted around 3:30 p.m. local time. The well, a wastewater collection point, is close to Harris’s off-campus apartment, as reported by various local news outlets.

The well is situated near Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, where Harris is a second-year student. Upon finding the remains, the police sought help from the Corpus Christi Fire Department. The fire department’s hazmat team wore protective suits to recover the remains from the well, according to Tuesday’s news release.

To retrieve the remains, the well was emptied of wastewater by the fire department’s hazmat team, as mentioned in the Caller-Times report.
