COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Eighteen years ago, a chilling disappearance shook the Ohio State University community, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions. Brian Shaffer, a 27-year-old medical student, vanished without a trace after entering a bar, his fate remaining a baffling enigma to this day.

Lori Davis, a dedicated advocate for missing persons, has been working closely with Brian’s family since his disappearance. She paints a vivid picture of a charismatic and outgoing individual, full of life and promise. “Brian was a second-year medical student, having already undergone the prestigious White Coat Ceremony. He was well on his way to becoming a doctor, with a personality that was both funny and stubborn at times.”

On the fateful night of March 31, 2006, Brian made a seemingly ordinary phone call to his brother, inviting him to dinner. However, their plans were foiled when his brother had prior commitments. Instead, Brian dined with his father, Randy, at a local steakhouse, just weeks after the passing of his mother, Renee. Rumors of a possible argument between Brian and his father over his mother’s life insurance policy have circulated, but remain unconfirmed.

As the night wore on, Brian embarked on a bar-hopping adventure with his friend Clint Florence, consuming shots and enjoying the spring break revelry. Notably, his girlfriend Alexis Waggoner was unexpectedly absent due to a family emergency. The last recorded sighting of Brian was his entry into a bar, but he seemingly vanished into thin air, leaving behind only unanswered questions and a haunting mystery that continues to grip the nation.
