On Friday, June 21, Justice Samuel Alito of the Supreme Court was absent from work for the second week in a row due to his colleagues’ delivery of many opinions, one of which was a historic decision on the Second Amendment. Nine court rulings have already been released without him, and the Supreme Court has not explained his unannounced absences.

Samuel Alito Missing:

Concerns have been raised by Justice Samuel Alito’s two-day absence from the Supreme Court last week. According to Channel, the court has not explained Alito’s absences on Thursday and Friday.

The court is making rulings before the conclusion of its term. Thus, the absence of a conservative justice system is noteworthy. The court may extend its term until July to decide on the remaining unresolved issues. Channel sent an email requesting comments from a Supreme Court spokeswoman.

The justices are anticipated to make decisions in the coming days regarding the prosecution of former Trump for his attempts to overturn his loss in the 2020 election, as well as the trial of Trump supporters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January  2021 for obstructing an official proceeding.

Rejecting pleas to step away from Trump cases following reports of divisive flags flying over his residences, Alito has maintained his impartiality. According to Alito, his wife Martha-Ann flew an “Appeal to Heaven” flag at their beach property in New Jersey last year and an upside-down U.S. flag above their house in January 2021. Both flags were similar to those flown by protestors who, in support of Trump’s ludicrous accusations of election fraud, forcibly stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Alito “missed two days of court last week. No word on why,” former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance posted on Wednesday on X, a platform that was once Social Media.

“We’ll check to see whether he’s here this week. The more significant issue is whether he and Justice Thomas recused, as it is arguable that neither should be involved in the Trump-related cases now.”

In addition to reporting on Alito’s absence, The New Republic offered speculations as to why he would have done so. Is he battling a hangover after his very wild flag-day celebration with Martha-Ann? The story questioned, “Is he pulling out to postpone the ruling on Trump’s presidential immunity case?”

Palmer Report, a left-wing website, also questioned why Alito’s absence had gone unannounced.

A report on the website stated, “Alito has been absent from the court for the last few days.” “No one is aware of the reason. Typically, the court releases a statement outlining the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a justice. They’re away on vacation. They’re ill. They’ve admitted themselves to a mental health facility.

“Well, we typically know the cause, whatever it may be. Not at this moment. Where is Sammy? Everyone wants to know. This is a rather uncommon circumstance,” the paper continued.
