Who Is Mama June Shannon’s Husband? Everything Regarding Justin Stroud
In March 2022, Mama June Shannon and Justin Stroud tied the knot. Mama June Shannon’s mate has been discovered. On March 23, 2022, the WE television reality star wed Justin Stroud in a courtroom after a six-month courtship.
On February 18, 2023, after almost a year, the couple said “I do” a second time in an “intimate” waterfront ceremony. This time, they were surrounded by friends and family, including Shannon’s four daughters: Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, and Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell.
When Stroud joined Shannon in her support meetings in Mama June: Road to Redemption, fans got to know him for the first time. Shannon told the group that Stroud has also been going through a “recovery” process and that it’s lovely to be with someone who “kinda understands” her experiences in life.
Stroud, who lovingly refers to Shannon as “Junebug,” is incredibly encouraging and wise beyond her years. “Everyone is an amazing rock star, and if somebody can’t be on your level, they’re not worth your presence,” is one of Shannon’s favorite sayings.
Who Is Mama June Shannon’s Husband?
Shannon claimed in Mama June: Road to Redemption that she initially met Stroud while undergoing drug addiction therapy. Shannon remembered making a buddy at a support group, Stroud being “in recovery” then. Despite the spiritual beginnings, she soon discovered she was “starting to catch a little bit of feelings.” He asked her to be his girlfriend six days after she told Stroud that she liked him more than a friend.
“He would write me these charming notes asking, ‘Hey, how are you doing? I hope today is fantastic for you. I fell in love with Justin because I saw the tiny things Shannon said to The Sun.
“Justin is an incredible person, and he understands everything I’ve been going through,” the woman continued. It’s lovely to have that collaboration because I’ve been able to discuss things with him that I’ve never been able to share with anybody else, not even my kids.”
The Romantic Life of Mama June Shannon and Justin Stroud:
Shannon disclosed on Instagram that she was the one who proposed initially in a touching anniversary tribute. “Yes, ladies, it’s 2022; you can ask a man to marry you,” she wrote with a collage of her and her spouse’s photos on February 23. “Prince Charming,” she said, calling Stroud, adding that she’s “finally got my happily ever after in my forever.”
On March 23, 2022, their six-month anniversary, Stroud discreetly married Shannon at a Georgia courtroom before their big “I do” in front of friends and family. A video of the pair celebrating their half-year anniversary was uploaded on Shannon’s Instagram. “We’re here today to clear up some rumors,” she stated. “[We] are no longer available. Guys, you know what? Just know when you know.”
Shannon showed her admirers a close-up of her wedding band made of diamonds and her engagement ring, which looked like a round-cut white diamond set in a double halo. In the video, Stroud also briefly looked at his wedding band.
That’s correct, Shannon said; no jokes, I was afraid of the M-word, but hey, Justin wifey-ed me up, so I wasn’t scared of it anymore. The pair marked one year of marriage in March 2023.
“My closest buddy and I were married one year ago today. Many didn’t want us together or believed we wouldn’t last. Still, as friends and a couple, we have experienced a great deal that most people would not be able to bear,” Shannon said on Instagram, along with other pictures of Stroud. “thank you for allowing me to experience true love for the first time.”
After the May 2023 premiere of Channels Mama June: Family Crisis, Shannon’s proposal and Stroud’s dissatisfaction with their marriage were discussed. In the video, he states, “This ain’t how I wanted this to go, like, this whole marriage, you know.” “And that’s not what I wanted, like, how it went down.” Like, it wasn’t my intended outcome.”
Stroud responds that he only accepted because “you asked me in jail,” claiming that he was “emotionally messed up” at the time, despite Shannon bringing up the fact that he signed the marriage license at the courthouse.
In a press statement from Channel, the couple said “I do” a second time on February 18, 2023, at the “intimate” and “glamorous” SpringHill Suites in Panama City, Florida. Shannon explained their weddings, “We didn’t have groomsmen or bridesmaids because we wanted to have a small and very intimate wedding.”
Shannon’s four kids, who all accompanied her down the aisle, got together for a unique reunion due to the historic event. Bentley Edfird, Sylus, and Stella Edfird, her grandkids, were also present. Shannon told Channel, “This was the first time the family had all been together since 2014.” “So it was extraordinary to get married in a place where my family and I have had so many memories!”
Six distinct tastes were selected by the newlyweds for their wedding cake. After getting married, they danced to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.”
A forthcoming Mama June: FamilyCrisis episode, which airs on WE television on May 5 at 9 p.m. ET, will highlight the wedding.
Stroud has worked hard to earn the respect of his stepdaughters. According to Shannon’s statement to The Sun, her kids were “at first standoffish” when she started introducing Stroud. The Channel actress said that seeing her involved in a new relationship so soon after her separation with ex-Geno Doak—for who she was arrested in 2019 on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia—was a little “jarring” for them.
Due to my toxic environment and drug addiction, I ended the relationship even though I had made progress toward sobriety there. Then, six or almost eight months later, they find themselves in a new relationship, which at first startled them, Shannon told the publication.
Shannon said her girls “love and appreciate him” now that they’ve had time to get to know him. The emotion is reciprocated. “After going on a few family outings with us, they all get along now that we spend time together. They don’t seem to be at odds with him, she continued.
In December 2023, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell passed away from Stage 4 cancer. Stroud tried his best to tend to his wife’s eldest daughter before she passed away.
Shannon told PEOPLE in June 2024, “Everything that Anna needed… Justin made sure he would go on over and check on her.” She said, “I do love and appreciate him even more.”
At a Mama June: Road to Redemption support group meeting, Shannon confided in her peers, saying, “I have a wonderful man right here.”
The reality personality never hesitates to publicly show off her love for Stroud, whether on their wedding anniversary or her birthday. Shannon wrote a sweet letter to Stround on Instagram to commemorate their first anniversary. He’s the only person she’s ever felt “true love” for, she said, and their romance is proof that love can last “even when the odds r against us.”
Shannon clarified in another scene of the show how Stroud differs from her past relationships with Geno and Sugarbear. “Honestly, Justin is teaching me how to treat people well. He encourages me to pursue my goals and helps me heal. He is not concerned about my bank balance. In a confessional, she said, “That motherf—er rocked my world. Like, he makes me extremely happy.”
