A tragic incident occurred in Columbus, Ohio, when a mother, Alexa Stakely, lost her life in a carjacking attempt while trying to save her child. The event took place at an apartment complex when Stakely had come to pick up her child from a babysitter after finishing her shift as a waitress.

According to eyewitnesses and surveillance footage, Stakely had placed her sleeping child in her Honda SUV, which she had left running, and returned to the babysitter’s home to collect some belongings.

During this time, two male suspects jumped into the vehicle and attempted to drive away with the child inside. Stakely, in an attempt to protect her child, ran towards the car, screaming for the driver to stop. Unfortunately, she was struck by the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.

The suspects abandoned the car a short distance away, leaving the child unharmed inside. They were seen fleeing the scene on foot, jumping a fence into a neighboring apartment complex. The police are currently investigating the incident and searching for the suspects.

Stakely, a single mother, worked two jobs to support her child. She was a speech-language pathologist at an elementary school and a waitress at a local restaurant. Her dedication to her child and her profession has been remembered by her colleagues and students, who described her as an outstanding and compassionate individual.

A GoFundMe page has been created to support Stakely’s child, and it has already raised a significant amount of money. The community has come together to mourn the loss of this dedicated mother and to support her child during this difficult time.
