An arrest has been made in connection with the fatal shooting of a homeless man in Hialeah. Mohammed Rajaie Ali was apprehended on Friday, with the help of the Miramar Police Department, as per detectives.

Ali, identified as the individual in surveillance footage from a week ago, was observed exiting his vehicle in the vicinity of Palm Avenue and East 12th Street. Allegedly, it was at this location where Ali shot the homeless man while he was sleeping outside Joyeria Royal, a jewelry store.

The 58-year-old victim was initially in critical condition and was transported to Jackson Ryder Trauma but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.

Surveillance footage obtained by NBC6 from the nearby Palm Avenue apartments captures the suspected shooter leaving a car parked at the complex, proceeding to the plaza. Shortly after, a gunshot is heard, prompting the shooter to return to the car, retrieve something, and then head back to the plaza. The entire incident, as captured by the jewelry store’s surveillance camera, revealed the victim’s identity as a homeless individual who frequented the area, while the shooter was recognized as a local resident.

While another store owner confirmed the victim’s status as unhoused and a regular in the area, the police have not officially verified these details.

Judy Rodriguez, who discovered the victim, quickly sought help by running to a nearby gas station to call 911. Overwhelmed by the situation, Rodriguez highlighted the urgency of the moment, emphasizing the need for immediate assistance in such distressing circumstances.
