GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) — A 15-year-old girl who went missing from Monterey Park last week was found safe early Tuesday morning outside ABC7’s office in Glendale.

Alison Jillian Chao had been reported missing on the afternoon of July 16. According to an ABC7 security guard, Chao was spotted walking and was followed by someone in a car who recognized her from missing persons reports and contacted the police.

The Monterey Park Police Department, which is overseeing the case, issued a statement expressing gratitude to the community and the various local, state, and federal agencies involved in the investigation.

Chao had left her home on a bike around 5:30 p.m. on July 16, heading to her aunt’s house in San Gabriel, but she never arrived.
