Four fans sued the singer and Live Nation which is the organiser of the 11:11 tour for $50 million claiming that they were assaulted by the singer’s bodyguards after he performed at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on July 19. The case has been brought by attorney Tony Buzbee on behalf of the plaintiffs and alleges that Brown and several members of his group engaged in a ‘’brutal’’ and ‘’violent’’ attack backstage.
From the legal papers that People magazine was able to access, the event occurred when Brown and his companions, Conway, Hood Boss, also known as Omololu Omari Akinlolu, and Sinko Ceej, attacked Larry Parker, Joseph Lewis, Charles Bush and Damarcus Powell. The plaintiffs say they entered the VIP area to meet Brown after the show, but instead they were attacked by the singer.
The complaint particulars that the assault included the entourage of the plaintiffs, throwing chairs, and the plaintiffs were kicked, stamped, and beaten. It also claims that the violence involved multiple blows to the victims’ heads and chests even when the victims were down. The plaintiffs also state that Brown personally committed the assault that led to severe injuries to all the victims.
Attorney Tony Buzbee insisted on the gravity of the allegations, saying, “Unprovoked violence can’t and won’t be tolerated. We intend to seek all damages that the law allows against Brown and his cohorts, to include punitive damages.” The lawsuit is not only directed against Brown and his entourage but also against Live Nation, which is accused of continuing to work with Brown despite his “bad conduct and violent behaviour.”
The legal action argues that Live Nation promoted Brown’s tour for profit knowing his behaviour in the past is part of the case. The complaint accuses the company of benefiting from Brown’s concerts while not paying attention to his misconduct.
Regarding the lawsuit, a representative for Chris Brown has not come out to make any statement on the case. The same applies to Live Nation that has not made any comment concerning the allegations.
The lawsuit comes at a time when Chris Brown has been involved in other legal problems concerning the charges of assault. He has been involved in several fights and has been to court severally over the years despite the fact that he remains a popular musician.
