Sinead O’Connor’s Official Cause of Death Revealed One Year After Her Death
Sinéad O’Connor, the renowned singer famed for her haunting rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” passed away in July 2023 at 56. Recently, the London Inner South Coroner’s Court confirmed that she died of natural causes.
Police had found O’Connor unresponsive at her southeast London home, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death, not considered suspicious, led to the coroner closing the case.
O’Connor’s career was a blend of immense talent and notable controversies. She shot to global fame in 1990 with “Nothing Compares 2 U” and remained in the public eye for her bold statements and actions, such as her protest against the Catholic Church on “Saturday Night Live” in 1992, where she famously tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II. This act, though heavily criticized, showcased her commitment to social and political activism.
Just before her death, O’Connor had announced plans to release a new album in 2024. Her passing followed the tragic suicide of her 17-year-old son, Shane, in 2022.
In the wake of her death, artists like Pink and Brandi Carlile paid homage through performances of her songs, and actor Russell Crowe shared touching memories of meeting her in Ireland, highlighting her impact and the loss felt by many.
