Suspect died after murder of two in Woodridge Townhome Complex
According to authorities on Sunday, a suspect has passed away following the Friday night shooting at a townhome complex in a southwest suburb where two individuals were slain.
According to Woodridge police, the incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. at The Townhomes at Highcrest, which are located in the 3200-block of 83rd Street. When police arrived, they discovered two victims—who could only be described as men—who had been fatally shot by gunshot. It was not immediately clear how old the victims were.
Police discovered another individual, unidentified in age, who had also been shot. They thought this man to be the suspect. He was sent to a hospital in extremely critical condition, where he passed away on Saturday night. A local resident claimed to have witnessed a man hiding on Friday night in the community wash facility. Cops reported that they discovered the unidentified man individual hiding in a hallway at a later time. His minor injuries were treated.
A woman and two kids managed to get out of the house, according to the police, and they are safe. A hectic and traumatic scene was described by a few local residents. As shots were fired, a neighbor reported hearing a woman scream for help and saw some victims rushing outside the apartment building.
A woman who wished to remain anonymous stated, “We heard nine gunshots going off.” We were clueless about their intended direction or the current situation. “Help, help,” screamed a young woman. The gunfire came so close to the neighbors’ houses, according to them, that it was horrifying.
“My son, he’s 14, and he was like, ‘mom I’m scared,’ and that was really rough for me last night,” the anonymous resident said. “So we couldn’t stay here, we just didn’t know if someone was gonna come back for retaliation.” Police are looking into the identity of the victims and the suspect, who have not yet been made public. The community is not in danger, according to the police, who believe this to be an isolated event.
Residents are currently requesting increased protection at the property and are also completely reevaluating their living arrangements. “It’s sad that it’s so close; pretty much everyone around here has kids,” the unnamed resident remarked. “I’m seeking to move, for sure. I wish to relocate as quickly as feasible.” Additional details regarding the shooting were not promptly provided by the police.
