Escaped NC killer captured after being on the run for 3 days
The N.C. Department of Adult Correction said that an escaped killer has returned to custody after three days of evasion. Ramone Alston, an escaped murderer, was apprehended by the FBI, Charlotte SWAT agents, Kannapolis Police, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police on Friday just before two in the morning at the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham on Cloverleaf Parkway in Kannapolis, which is located right off of I-85. No one was hurt when he was taken into custody.
With two “rock solid” leads, the hunt for the escaped murderer has entered a new phase, according to Orange County Sheriff. Not long afterward, a female acquaintance named Jacobia Crisp was taken into custody in Alamance County and accused of harboring an escapee and felony aiding and abetting a fugitive. She received a bail of $30,000.
According to authorities, on Wednesday, the two made a reservation at the hotel using Crisp’s name. When correctional personnel were taking Alston, who was serving a life sentence for the 2015 murder of 1-year-old Maleah Williams, from Bertie Correctional Institution to UNC Gastroenterology in Hillsborough for medical treatment on August 13, he broke free. The search for Alston encompassed hundreds of workers from almost a dozen agencies.
Even though he was already serving a life sentence for the murder of Williams, he has been charged with felony escape. Escaped killer Ramone Alston from North Carolina apprehended in Kannapolis.
