‘Psychopath’ off-duty NYPD officer who waited in bedroom to kill dental student in relationship with ex-girlfriend weeks after break-up learns her

A former NYPD officer from Staten Island has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for a tragic and fatal shooting that took place in 2021. Yvonne Wu, now 34, was sentenced in Kings County Court after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter and attempted murder charges.

The incident, which occurred on October 13, 2021, involved Wu lying in wait at the Brooklyn apartment of her ex-girlfriend, Jenny Li. Armed with her police-issued firearm, Wu confronted Li and her new partner, 24-year-old Jamie Liang, a dental student at NYU, when they returned home.
