Medical Findings and Incident Details

According to the official report obtained by E! News, Richard Simmons suffered from “sequelae of blunt traumatic injuries” resulting from a fall at ground level. The report indicates that “arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease” was a contributing factor. On July 11, Simmons experienced dizziness, which led to his fall. He was found the next morning and remained bedridden throughout the day. Unfortunately, he was discovered unresponsive on July 13 and pronounced dead at his residence.

Tom Estey, a representative for the Simmons family, previously disclosed that Simmons’ death was linked to recent falls, with underlying heart disease playing a role. This aligns with the Medical Examiner’s findings. Estey confirmed, “Richard’s death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor.”

Autopsy and Toxicology Report

The autopsy report revealed additional health issues, including “incidental bilateral renal cortical cysts and a gallstone.” The toxicology report showed the presence of diphenhydramine, trazodone, and zolpidem. However, these substances were not deemed to have contributed to Simmons’ cause of death.

Just two days before his passing, Simmons gave what would be his final interview. In a conversation with People magazine, he expressed gratitude and a positive outlook. “I feel good! I am grateful that I’m here, that I am alive for another day. I’ll spend my birthday doing what I do every day, which is to help people,” Simmons said. He humorously added that he would celebrate by blowing out a candle, joking, “The candle will probably be on a zucchini.”
