Man admits murdering roommate who had just moved cross-country to start a new life
Arizona: Timothy J. Sullivan, 66, is set to be sentenced on October 7 for the murder of Amy “Ruby” Leagans, 49. Sullivan pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and concealing a body. Leagans had moved to Chandler, Arizona, in April 2020 for a fresh start. However, her life was tragically cut short by Sullivan, her roommate and former partner, in October 2020.
According to reports, Sullivan admitted to killing Leagans, claiming he “snapped” after she yelled at him. He then concealed her body for two days before dismembering and disposing of her remains in trash cans.
Leagans was reported missing on October 27, 2020, and her remains were later found in a desert area and near the Salt River bottom in Phoenix.
Sullivan’s defense team previously argued that he was not responsible for his actions due to a traumatic brain injury. However, prosecutors questioned this claim, stating that it was not mentioned before.
Leagans’ sister, Christa Holton, expressed her grief, saying, “To lose her is definitely tough… I will never be the same.”
