Donald Trump Is Coming Back To North Carolina To Address A Meeting Of The Fraternal Order Of Police

In an attempt to project a more aggressive stance against crime in the last months of the campaign than his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, Donald Trump will make a repeat visit to the crucial state of North Carolina on Friday to speak at a Fraternal Order of Police conference. Trump is expected to speak at the fall meeting of the FOP National Board of Trustees in Charlotte. The president of the FOP, the largest law enforcement organization in the world, declared as representative of its 373,000 members that Trump had “made it crystal clear that he has our backs” and endorsed Trump’s reelection campaign in 2020.

Marxist Attack On Law Enforcement

Trump can use the image of the former president and Republican nominee among law enforcement professionals to contrast their endorsement with his criticism of Harris, the former attorney general of California and district attorney of San Francisco, whom he has referred to as the “ringleader” of a nationwide “Marxist attack on law enforcement.” Trump made several generalizations about an America under Harris last month in Michigan, including, “Kamala Harris may deliver chaos, crime, destruction, and death.” “You’ll witness unprecedented amounts of criminal activity. I’ll bring about safety, peace, law, and order.

In her previous positions, Harris has highlighted her reputation as a former top prosecutor in the home state by frequently stating, “I know Donald Trump’s type,” following her discussions of the “perpetrators of all kinds.” Two officers who were present at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and who have since endorsed her at numerous events across the nation and shared their reflections on that day, have provided her with some assistance with that messaging.

Fight For Democracy Still Continues

Former Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn said to a group of voters in Arizona last summer, “After three & a half years, the battle for democracy still continues.” It continues to this day. There remains that threat in Donald Trump. I was attacked by violent insurrectionists who did this because of his insane, egotistical, and compulsive desire for power. Following his injuries on that day, former Capitol Police Sgt. Aquilino Gonell retired from the force in 2022. He made the statement that Trump had “summoned our attackers…He betrayed us” during the Democratic National Convention last month.

Prior to Trump’s trip to North Carolina, the Harris campaign arranged a news conference including both past and current law enforcement officers, including Dunn, who claimed that Trump only backs law enforcement when they are obedient to him. In a letter released by her campaign, Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, were praised as “the only candidates we have faith on to take care of our communities” and Trump was accused of “sowing chaos, defunding critical law enforcement agencies, and putting all Americans at risk.” The letter was signed by more than 100 law enforcement officials nationwide.
