Chef Who Trained Under Gordon Ramsay Is Murdered While Visiting London, Police Say
A U.K. man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing a Swedish chef who had previously worked under Gordon Ramsay in London.
On August 26, Mussie Imnetu, 41, was discovered unconscious with a suspected head injury near the Notting Hill Carnival, a festival in London, according to the Metropolitan Police. Imnetu died four days later, and authorities have since classified the case as a murder. Omar Wilson, 31, was arrested in connection with the incident and was initially charged with causing grievous bodily harm, according to Met Police.
The BBC reported that Wilson appeared in court on Monday, September 10, where prosecutors stated he was subsequently charged with murder. Wilson has not yet entered a plea, the news outlet noted.
Police said Imnetu was visiting London from Dubai, where he lived and worked.
Prosecutors told the BBC that Imnetu was head-butted before the suspect allegedly punched him multiple times, even after he had fallen to the ground.
The events leading up to the alleged attack remain unclear. Police are seeking witnesses who may have additional information about Imnetu’s activities before the fatal incident.
