Moody: 25 Arrested in Major Multi-Agency Drug Bust in Tampa Bay

TAMPA, Fla. — A joint operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies has led to the arrest of over two dozen individuals and the seizure of hundreds of pounds of drug-making materials, according to Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), along with Tampa and Clearwater police, initiated their investigations back in January. Both departments eventually realized they were targeting the same individual for his involvement in trafficking drugs to various organized crime groups. Following this discovery, the agencies applied for separate SAFE (State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication) grants. The funds from these grants provided the necessary resources for the success of their operations, law enforcement officials stated on Monday.

“I am proud to say that today is yet another example of how Florida is leading the nation in fentanyl seizures,” Moody said while discussing details of the joint operation.

The FDLE’s involvement provided statewide assistance, which was crucial as the investigation expanded across three Tampa Bay area counties: Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco.

Last week, law enforcement executed more than a dozen search warrants, resulting in the seizure of drugs and the arrest of 25 individuals. Additionally, at least three others have active warrants, with more arrests potentially forthcoming, Moody added.
