Search Efforts Halted by Lake Conditions

The search for the missing diver began after the U.S. Coast Guard received an emergency notification from a vessel at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The report stated that the diver had not resurfaced as expected after exploring the SS Wisconsin shipwreck, located about six miles off the coast of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. This shipwreck, lying in water over 100 feet deep, has long been a popular site for divers intrigued by its history. However, the treacherous depth and fluctuating lake conditions make it a challenging site to navigate.

Search and recovery operations were conducted throughout the afternoon but had to be called off at approximately 4:40 p.m. due to deteriorating weather conditions on the lake. Choppy waters and poor visibility significantly hindered rescue teams, making it unsafe to continue searching. Authorities announced that the efforts would resume early Wednesday morning, with the hope that conditions would improve.

Recovery Operations to Resume

As the search continues, local authorities and rescue teams remain focused on resuming their efforts as soon as conditions permit.
