Ex-assistant, Tyrese Haspil Is Convicted For Murdering His Tech CEO Boss

New York City: After taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from his tech CEO boss in New York City, the former executive assistant killed and dismembered him. He was just jailed for the crime. Tyrese Haspil, 25, received a sentence to forty years to life in state prison for the 2020 murder of 33-year-old Fahim Saleh, according to a press release issued by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday, September 10. A little more than two months have passed since a New York State Supreme Court jury found Haspil guilty of first-degree murder and second-degree grand larceny, among other crimes related to the case.

All About The Incident

Prosecutors claimed that on July 13, 2020, Haspil was captured on camera following Saleh into the elevator that led to Saleh’s apartment in Lower Manhattan and inside the building itself. Haspil gave Saleh a back tase before stabbing him repeatedly in the neck and torso with a knife, killing him as soon as he exited the elevator. The following day, Hapsil went back to the flat and used the saw to chop Mr. Saleh’s body into pieces.

He then put the pieces in construction bags that he had ordered in advance. When Saleh’s cousin checked on him after not hearing from him for a day, she made the tragic finding. Then she gave the police a call. Four days later, Haspil was detained at an Airbnb he had leased to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday. According to the prosecution, he left the unit in search of a saw battery charger while did not return after noticing a police presence in the building.

Search Of The Body

Searches for a dismembered body, Fahim Saleh, and the murder of a tech CEO in New York were found on Haspil’s browser history in the days following the murder. According to the prosecution, Haspil killed Saleh for financial gain. When Haspil started working as Saleh’s executive assistant in May 2018, he gained access to his financial accounts and stole thousands of dollars from them. Saleh was the founder and CEO of Gokada, a company that provides transportation with its headquarters located in Nigeria.

Crimes Of Tyrese Haspil

Haspil opened a company bank account and a Paypal account to channel Saleh’s funds, according to the district attorney’s office. To hide the theft from Saleh, he made up fake statements and used a name that looked similar to other bank transactions. Haspil continued to embezzle money, increasing the quantities, even after resigning in May 2019 knowing that Mr. Saleh would find out about it.

The district attorney’s office claims that although Haspil used a PayPal scheme to reimburse Saleh with money that had been taken, the fraud went on and eventually reached almost $400,000. Prosecutors claimed that before killing Saleh in July 2020, Haspil had planned to kill him at least three times in an effort to cover up the theft and keep Saleh from possibly testifying against him in court.
