MIAMI: Following an altercation and police shooting on Monday in Miami, a man died and three officers were put on administrative leave. Lorena Inclan of NBC6 reports. A altercation and police shooting on Monday in Miami resulted in the death of a man and the placement of three officers on administrative duty. The incident took place in the vicinity of Liberty City, around the 1400 block of Northwest 67th Street, at approximately 4:30 p.m.

While conducting surveillance in the neighborhood, the Tactical Robbery Unit of the Miami Police Department and the Crime Gun Intelligence Center came into a man they had been searching for since Sunday. Regarding Sunday’s incident, Miami Police Chief Manny Morales stated, “About 10–12 shots that were fired that were caught by one of our cameras in the area, that led the detectives to identify the offender as being the individual responsible.” Officials reported that following a confrontation, the three cops discharged their weapons.

Man in critical condition

“They approached him while he was leaving one of the markets. A foot pursuit started as they got closer to the offender, and that’s when there was a fight in the rear of the apartment building, according to Morales. A footage that looked like a gun was taken by NBC6 on the sidewalk. Although it’s unclear if the man the police were pursuing really discharged the gun at them, they did report that he was carrying a gun. According to Miami Fire Rescue officials, the man was evacuated from the scene in critical condition to Ryder Trauma Center.

A hospital later claimed his life. He has not been identified by officials. The policemen, according to the police, were unharmed. Several police were seen outside the apartment building in the video footage, and a section of the parking lot had been blocked off by yellow crime scene tape.
