They Had Discovered A Rat Infestation In The Home

Authorities said they received a 911 call on September 13, 2023, from a father who claimed to have discovered his 6-month-old baby “in his bassinet cloaked in blood.” Officials stated that the infant was in a “pool of blood with more than 50 bites to his body, including his face,” and that they had discovered a rat infestation in the home. Officials said that the youngster had gnawed his right hand’s fingertips all the way down to the bone. Officials stated that the father’s 911 call “severely downplayed the dreadful scene at home.” According to an expert witness at the father’s trial, the infant “nearly died from blood loss” and “faces permanent damages from this incident,” according to authorities detailing the graveness of the injuries.

This Case Is Horrific

According to the announcement, three other kids in the house, which the authorities described as being in “deplorable, unlivable condition”, had also been bitten by rats. At the time of the event, according to officials, the Department of Child Services was attempting to address safety issues in the home; however, the issues were never remedied. The prosecutor’s office declared, “We shall live with the pictures of this baby forever. This case is horrific.” According to court documents, the man’s sentencing hearing is set for October 2. From Indianapolis, Evansville is roughly 175 miles to the southwest.
