Dolphins are signing former Ravens QB Tyler Huntley as Tua Tagovailoa remains out with a concussion
The Miami Dolphins are signing backup quarterback Tyler Huntley from the Ravens’ practice squad as Tua Tagovailoa remains sidelined after suffering the third diagnosed concussion of his career. Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed the signing, which was initially reported by NFL Network, adding that Huntley will provide additional depth behind Skylar Thompson, the current No. 2 quarterback.
Tagovailoa is still in the NFL’s concussion protocol after leaving last Thursday’s 31-10 loss to Buffalo. McDaniel noted that it’s unclear whether Tagovailoa will be placed on injured reserve, pending further information from medical experts.
Huntley, known by his nickname “Snoop,” had previously signed with the Browns but was released in August before rejoining the Ravens. He was one of several veteran quarterbacks considered by Miami following Tagovailoa’s injury. During the Buffalo game, players from both teams signaled for help immediately after Tagovailoa showed signs of a traumatic brain injury, prompting his exit and replacement by Thompson.
