MIAMI: Hundreds of demonstrators flocked to Miami’s Bayfront Park on Saturday to support Amendment 4, which would make abortion legal in the state. On Saturday, dozens of people came to Miami’s Bayfront Park to protest Florida’s restrictions on abortion rights. They are urging people to support Amendment 4, which would permit access to abortion in the Sunshine State, by voting “yes.”

In particular, it would let the process to continue legally up until the point at which the patient’s healthcare provider determines that the fetus is viable. Residents of all ages joined in the cries for change, as did local officials including the mayor of Miami-Dade County.

“When you see people coming together and when you see the impact that it has on people, it spreads awareness of issues,” a woman stated to NBC6. A man who was present at the demonstration declared, “The right to choose for one’s body belongs to the person, who is going to make that choice – not to the government.”

In the meantime, organizations such as Florida Right to Life are opposing Amendment 4, arguing that they wish to uphold the sanctity of life from the moment of conception and advising voters to cast a “no” ballot in November.
