Exploding communications device injure Hezbollah operatives across Lebanon: Reports

Tel Aviv, Israel  – Numerous Hezbollah members in Lebanon were reportedly injured after their communication devices exploded, according to Arab media. Around 70 people were initially reported wounded, though the actual figure may be higher. Sky News in Arabic, citing Lebanese sources, attributed the blasts to Israeli hacking. Israeli officials have not commented on the matter.

So far, reports indicate that approximately 1,000 Hezbollah operatives were affected by exploding pagers and radios, with some incidents also involving Hezbollah members in Syria. Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was also among the injured.

Social media has been flooded with videos showing the explosions and the resulting chaos in hospitals across Lebanon. Unverified Arab media reports link the blasts to a potential Israeli cyber attack.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Security Cabinet updated its war objectives, focusing on securing the return of 60,000 evacuated northern residents to their homes. These evacuations followed rocket and drone attacks launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon since October, killing 26 civilians and 20 soldiers. Hezbollah has fired over 6,700 rockets and drones since October 8, with 1,307 launched in August alone.

Israeli officials continue to call for Hezbollah’s disarmament in southern Lebanon in line with UN Security Council resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Lebanon War. Israel’s other primary war goals include dismantling Hamas’s military infrastructure, securing the release of hostages, and eliminating threats posed by Gaza. So far, Hamas’s attacks have resulted in 1,200 deaths, with 252 people taken hostage, many of whom remain in captivity.
