Families Of The Victims Condemned Joseph Syas For Randomly Killing 2 Men For No Reason

Texas: A Texas judge convicted a 22-year-old guy to 50 years in jail for the seeming random killings of two men around one month apart. During the sentencing hearing on Monday, the victims’ relatives expressed their displeasure with the defendant. Kevin Sheffield entered a guilty plea to the killings of Joseph Syas, 65, and Mohamed Kamara, 64.

All About The Incident

When Kamara was discovered outside his automobile on April 12, 2022, in the 8300 block of Skillman Street, suffering from a gunshot wound, Dallas police opened an investigation into his death at around 7:30 a.m. According to his wife, he departed for work at five in the morning but never arrived. He was taken to the hospital by paramedics, and on May 1, 2022, he passed away. Before they began looking into Syas’s murder on May 17, 2022, authorities had few leads in the case.

Joseph Syas Was Detained

Syas was captured on camera using the sidewalk in the 6700 block of Eastridge Drive. At approximately 1:40 a.m., a crimson or maroon Chevrolet Malibu passed him, executed a “fast U-turn,” and proceeded in the direction of Syas. Syas slumped as gunshots rang out. Near Syas’s body, investigators found nine millimeter shell casings. Sheffield’s car was found close to the crime scene by local license plates.

Evidence For The Killings

Additionally, the detectives discovered that Sheffield and Kamara shared a street. During a check of his house, a 9 mm gun and ammo were discovered that matched the weapon used in the two killings. Members of the victims’ families spoke to Sheffield on Monday. Anthony Syas, his brother, claimed he had been waiting a period of two years to speak with Sheffield. According to Kamara’s relatives, he relocated from Africa to the Dallas region. Only a few weeks after his son’s marriage, he passed away.
