YFN Lucci’s lawyer says imprisoned rapper is still alive following death hoax

Despite circulating online rumors, YFN Lucci is alive. The 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, has been the subject of false death reports on social media since September 18.

In January, Lucci pleaded guilty to a gang-related charge after negotiating a plea deal, following an indictment on murder, gang, and racketeering charges in Atlanta nearly three years prior. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

TMZ has reported that Lucci’s attorney, Drew Findling, has confirmed that Lucci is indeed alive. The rumors about his death are believed to have emerged as a reaction to the recent passing of his former labelmate, Rich Homie Quan.

Initially, he faced murder charges in January 2021 after police alleged he was the driver in a gang-related drive-by shooting that resulted in a man’s death.

Under a plea deal, prosecutors dropped 12 of the 13 charges against Bennett. He subsequently pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, according to his lawyers.
