Authorities reported that a man who was going to face charges in relation to the demise of his girlfriend who went missing in Westmoreland County was discovered dead on Thursday. Thursday morning, as Amy Shipley, 45, was being investigated for her death and disappearance, Roger Angelo Jr. was discovered dead.

Ligonier Borough is in shock about Shipley’s death and disappearance and is searching for answers. It all began on September 8, when Shipley’s boyfriend, Angelo, was accused of killing her. Authorities claim that over a few days, Angelo transported Shipley’s body to a Cook Township home his family sometimes visited off Helens Lane and buried her in a shallow grave.
On September 13, the Ligonier Valley Police Department began looking into Shipley’s disappearance. On September 17, the department discovered and exhumed Shipley’s body in collaboration with Westmoreland County investigators, Pennsylvania State Police troopers, and FBI Pittsburgh’s Evidence Response Team. Then, early on Thursday morning, law enforcement received a call regarding Angelo.
“We received a call to West Vincent Street, which is where we think this crime was committed,” Westmoreland County Chief County Detective Ronal Zona stated. “The suspect that we had in this crime, Roger Angelo, he was found deceased at that location.”
The primary suspect in the case, Angelo, was scheduled to face charges related to Shipley’s demise. The police said that he stabbed himself to death. The inquiry is still under progress. Regarding Shipley’s legacy, the people of Ligonier are in mourning. Jaime Lucchetti, who spent the majority of her life knowing Shipley, talked with KDKA-TV. She spoke about her friend with emotion.
“She was a fiery individual. And it’s difficult because so many people adored her,” Lucchetti remarked. “Her smile was the biggest. She was stunning on the inside as well. You fell in love with her because she had the biggest personality.” Right now, the Shipley family is requesting privacy. In the future, they hope to have a memorial, according to sources who spoke with KDKA-TV.
