Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Request For Bail Was Refused

NEW YORK: On Wednesday, Sept. 18, Sean “Diddy” Combs was once more denied bail, one day after a Manhattan federal judge remanded him to a Brooklyn jail pending trial. During his hearing in Manhattan’s federal courtroom on Tuesday, September 17, the rapper was first sent to jail and denied bail. On Wednesday, a different court turned down his bail plea. The judge’s decision to refuse Combs’ request for bail was swiftly challenged by his legal team, who then appeared in court the next afternoon. Combs’ attorneys called the circumstances in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center “horrific” and “unfit for pre-trial detention” in a letter to the judge dated September 17.

The Rapper Had Shown A “Pattern Of Abuse”

Wednesday in court, Combs’ defense team suggested that he reside alone in his Florida home, watched over by a round-the-clock security staff that would keep an eye on a visitor list that had been pre-approved. As his attorney Marc Agnifilo put it, he pledged to give up all use of his phone and the internet and “do nothing but get ready for his trial.” Nevertheless, “there is no provision or combination of provisions to make sure he will not hinder justice or tamper with witnesses,” declared Judge Andrew L. Carter, Jr.

When he heard the judge’s ruling, Combs, who was wearing the same gray-striped sweatpants and black shirt from his initial hearing for bail on Tuesday, dropped his head and glanced down at the defense table. One count for each of misleading conspiracy, forced sex trafficking, fraud or coercion, and transportation to participate in prostitution was brought against Combs in a 14-page indictment that was disclosed in the Southern District of New York on Tuesday. Emily A. Johnson, the Assistant District Attorney described Combs as “a serial abuser” in court on Tuesday, stating that the rapper had shown a “pattern of abuse” and had been “undeterred” by the police for a number of years. “He poses a serious risk to the community,” she continued.

He Has The Tendency To Become Violent At The Slightest Provocation

The rapper was initially denied bail by magistrate judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky on Tuesday. She informed Combs that the rapper was being sent to jail based on his alleged “substance abuse & what appears like anger issues.” She remarked, “I don’t know whether you can believe yourself” to not hurt others. As he was led out of court on Tuesday by two U.S. Marshals, Combs turned to face his family, who were seated in the 3rd row, and put his palm to his heart.
