Oklahoma: Shocking details have surfaced in a child neglect case from Oklahoma, where two young boys were found living in appalling conditions.

Details of the Incident

Dakota Rain Dodd, 24, and Aubrianna Jewelyn Willow Freeman, 22, are each facing five counts of child neglect, according to the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Authorities discovered the two boys living in an environment riddled with filth, primarily human feces, spread throughout their family’s apartment.

The initial police report, heavily redacted, provided little information, but a recently released unredacted version paints a disturbing picture of the children’s living conditions. The apartment on Greenvale Road in Oklahoma City was described as being in a “dizzying” state of squalor, with human feces smeared across various parts of the home. The staircase leading to the second floor was covered in piles of feces, with the smell intensifying as officers moved further into the residence. At the top of the stairs was a bedroom devoid of any furniture except for a plastic slide and a few toys, but the overwhelming presence of feces dominated the room.

Disturbing Living Conditions Found in Family’s Apartment

The boys’ bedroom, according to police reports, was filled with flattened and smeared piles of feces on the floor, walls, and windows. The overwhelming odor suggested the substance had been there for some time. Brown handprints, presumably made by the children, were found throughout the room, even on the windowsill and bed frame. The children’s father, Dodd, appeared disoriented when he answered the door on the day authorities visited. He initially claimed to be home alone but eventually admitted his two sons were upstairs. Upon entering the boys’ room, the responding officer described being “struck with a smell” so strong it caused nausea and eye irritation. The two young boys, entirely naked, rushed out of the room as if they had been trying to escape. They were covered in dried feces, particularly on their hands, feet, and faces, with the substance caked beneath their fingernails.

Children Locked Away for Hours in Feces-Covered Room

The investigation revealed that Dodd and Freeman had been locking the boys in the feces-covered room for extended periods. Dodd admitted the boys were locked away for at least 12 hours daily, supposedly to allow Freeman time to sleep and due to concerns about their neighborhood. Freeman, however, claimed the boys were locked up for only two hours a day. The grim reality of the boys’ confinement was further highlighted by a neighbor’s account. She revealed that she had repeatedly seen the naked children at the window, their faces and hands smeared with feces, looking out as if seeking help. Despite the severity of the situation, the couple’s 11-month-old baby girl, who also lived in the apartment, was reportedly kept separate from the boys and was not subjected to the same conditions.

Parents Arrested and Awaiting Formal Charges

Both Dodd and Freeman were arrested on September 12, and their bond has been set at $250,000 each. They are awaiting formal charges as the case is reviewed by prosecutors. As of now, neither defendant has legal representation, and the full extent of the charges they will face is yet to be determined.
