Fort Worth police investigating deadly officer-involved shooting

FORT WORTH, Texas – Police in Fort Worth are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in the southwest part of the city.

Officers responded to a report of an attempted suicide around 6 p.m. and located the man about seven minutes later near Selkirk Drive and Inwood Road, using his phone’s location to track him.

When police arrived, the man was found near his vehicle, and shots were fired. Two officers discharged their weapons, according to the police. A firearm was discovered next to the man’s body.

While MedStar, Fort Worth’s ambulance service, reported that the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police have not confirmed this, stating it remains part of their investigation.

The man’s identity has not yet been released, and the case is still under investigation.

Fort Worth police are encouraging those in crisis to reach out for help through their emergency hotline by texting 988.
