West Virginia: A neighbor assisted the handcuffed daughter of the West Virginia mother who was arrested on Monday, according to the police. According to Lt. Tony Hazelett’s news release, the girl was found by Charleston police on the neighbor’s porch. The woman was accused of abusing children and using unlawful restraint. In the Southcentral Regional Jail, she was being held under a $10,000 bond. The woman’s attorney may be able to respond on her behalf regarding the charges, according to jail records.
All About The Incident
The mother told police that she shackled her daughter on Sunday night because the kid was causing a mess, stealing and hiding food, and trying to leave without permission, according to a criminal complaint submitted to the Kanawha County Magistrate Court. The house was characterized as extremely messy by the officers who responded to it. The girl’s age was not disclosed in the police statement. The mother stated during her arraignment that she lived with four children, ages three to sixteen. A preliminary hearing was planned for Oct. 2.
Child Being Abused And Neglected
Monday morning, at approximately nine in the morning, a neighbor in the 700 block of Bridge Road called 911 to report that their home had been visited by a child in handcuffs who was claiming to have been abused and neglected. Additional research revealed that the juvenile’s household had been the scene of abuse and neglect. After several police arrived at the residence, Southworth was taken into jail. Charleston police filed a criminal complaint in Kanawha County Magistrate Court describing the home as exceedingly disorganized, with several items strewn all over the floor.
