17-year-old boy missing in Newton found safe

NEWTON, MASS. (WHDH) – A 17-year-old boy, Kolongi Cobbs, who had been reported missing earlier on Tuesday evening, has been found safe, according to local authorities. The Newton Police Department initiated the search after Cobbs was last seen leaving Newton North High School at 6:05 p.m.

Cobbs was described as wearing black sweatpants, a coral-colored zip-up jacket, and carrying a multicolored backpack at the time of his disappearance. Standing at 5-foot-2 and weighing around 110 pounds, police had quickly issued a description to the public in an effort to locate him.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances surrounding Cobbs’ discovery but confirmed that he was found safe later in the evening. His brief disappearance caused concern, but the Newton community and police are relieved by his safe return.
