LA school counselor accused of sex crime

Authorities say there might be more victims of the many sex charges against a Los Angeles high school guidance counselor. According to a news release issued by the Los Angeles Police Department on Tuesday, Julie Tichon was employed at YULA High School in West Los Angeles but is no longer there.

The police department released a news release stating that the 37-year-old guidance counselor was taken into custody on August 29 and charged with several sex crimes against a 16-year-old child. The purported offenses happened in February and March of this year.

She was arrested and accused with having sex with a minor who is younger than the perpetrator by more than three years at the Metropolitan Detention Center. According to police, Tichon was freed by the Los Angeles Superior Court and will have a hearing on November 1. Who was defending Tichon in court was not immediately apparent.

“In the news release, LAPD Det. Russ Hess stated that the suspect began inappropriate sexual relationships with these victims after using her position of responsibility to gain their trust.” “Rather than advising them, she was abusing them.” Tichon can go to jail for up to five years if found guilty. Investigators claim she may have abused additional victims, despite the fact that authorities have only charged her in relation to one.

Investigators request that anyone with knowledge give Hess’ number, (213) 473-0561, a call. Calls can also be directed to 1-877-527-3247. Those who want to report tips anonymously can contact the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
