Memphis Mother Arrested for Allegedly Attacking Son with Screwdriver

Miriam Castillo, 44, has been charged with felony aggravated child abuse and misdemeanor domestic assault after allegedly attacking her son with a screwdriver, according to Shelby County court records.

Witnesses reported seeing the son running and yelling, “She’s trying to kill me!” on Tuesday afternoon. The victim told police that his mother drove recklessly after picking him up from school and attempted to push him out of the moving vehicle while en route to pick up his sister.

The boy called his father for help, who instructed him to take the car keys when the vehicle stopped. Police arrested Castillo following the incident.

Castillo is currently being held on charges related to the alleged attack. The investigation is ongoing.
