‘She is trying to kill me’: Mom attacked son with a screwdriver after picking him up from school, police say

Kyle Rittenhouse’s former bodyguard and spokesperson, Dave Hancock, believes that Rittenhouse might not have been acquitted of killing two people and injuring another if the jury had known what he knows now. In an interview for a documentary exploring new details about the August 2020 incident in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Hancock described what he learned during the trial as “shocking” and “breathtaking.”

Hancock claimed that during the trial, he discovered Rittenhouse had allegedly used racial slurs in messages to friends and appeared to be seeking an opportunity to use a weapon. “Before Kenosha, he had been patrolling the streets with guns for months, borrowing security uniforms, trying to get into a gunfight,” Hancock said. He admitted that he initially believed Rittenhouse’s stories but now realizes many of them were lies, which he finds deeply hurtful.

Another former bodyguard, Leonard “LT” Toon, also mentioned seeing the alleged racial slurs in transcripts from Rittenhouse’s cellphone. “When I saw it, my blood boiled. I confronted Kyle and his lawyers, asking how he could say such things, but he stayed silent,” Toon shared.

Rittenhouse’s lawyer, Mark Richards, denied any knowledge of racist messages on Rittenhouse’s phone, dismissing Hancock’s claims. Richards described Hancock as a “disgruntled former employee” who exaggerated his role as a spokesperson.

Hancock has since expressed regret for publicly defending Rittenhouse during the trial.
