CHICAGO: Officials confirmed that the 2-year-old girl who was reported lost overnight from a Lombard hotel and who sparked an early-morning “significant” police and diving team response was located safely inside a hotel room. Authorities said that the girl was discovered by police in an empty room on the hotel’s fourth floor at around seven in the morning. A family acquaintance informed us that the girl went missing around midnight.

They Discovered The Girl Unlocked And Alone In A Room

The friend stated that the girl’s mother had gone to her fourth-floor room to take a shower and when she returned, her daughter was gone. While officers searched the neighborhood, they brought the mother of the girl and father in for interrogation. Authorities added that later on Friday morning, they discovered the girl unlocked and alone in room 405, which was a vacant hotel room. A retention pond was searched by divers and K-9s during a long “proactive police response” by several suburban departments in response to the event.

There was an “active police response” surrounding the Extended Stay America Hotel, which is situated at 260 E. 22nd St. in Lombard, close to the Yorktown Shopping Center Mall. Lombard Police verified it at around four in the morning. The Lombard Police Department, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, the Villa Park Police Department, the Oakbrook, Roselle, and Bloomingdale Fire Departments were among the “significant” police presence, according to a reporter.

A 2-year-old Daughter Had Been Reported Missing

Torres, a reporter received confirmation from the Bloomingdale Fire Department that they were called to the scene because there were allegations of a person “in the water.” Images and footage from the site showed numerous agencies encircling the area and multiple divers investigating a pond that is present behind the hotel & Greek Islands Lombard, a well-known eatery close to the Yorktown Mall.

From the scene, Torres reported that an employee of Extended Stay America told that police were looking for a 2-year-old daughter who had been reported missing the previous night. The Village of Lombard later on Friday morning, at 6:27 a.m., said that officers were looking for the missing girl near 22nd Street & Highland Avenue. The village announced the girl’s safe return in a post at 7:05 a.m. About 20 miles west of the city is Lombard, Illinois, which is a western suburb of Chicago.
