Boca Raton Woman Has Affair, Hits Husband, Is Arrested

A Boca Raton woman, Lara Spodek Gilman, was arrested following a domestic dispute with her husband, stemming from an argument about her affair.

Affair Sparks Confrontation Over Phone

According to the Boca Raton Police Department, the altercation began when Gilman’s husband looked through her phone, leading to a physical confrontation. Gilman now faces a battery charge for allegedly slapping her husband during the argument.

The incident occurred when Gilman’s husband, suspicious of her continuing contact with a past fling, picked up her cell phone to examine her messages. Gilman admitted to the affair and became upset when her husband refused to return the phone, leading to the altercation that ultimately resulted in her arrest.

Argument Escalates to Physical Violence

According to the police report, Gilman told officers that her husband retrieved her phone while they were in their bedroom, suspecting she might still be in touch with the individual she had an affair with. After refusing to return the phone, he sat on the couch, placing it beneath his back to keep it away from her. Gilman stated that she attempted to retrieve the phone but was stopped when her husband raised his arm, prompting her to slap him on the left arm with her right hand.

The situation escalated further when her husband left the apartment, taking the phone with him. He later returned briefly to grab her laptop before leaving again. Using an iPad, Gilman tracked her husband’s location, and police were able to locate him. He confirmed Gilman’s account, adding that the phone belonged to him and was used for his business. He also stated that Gilman had slapped him multiple times during the argument. The officers at the scene noted that no visible injuries or red marks were found on the husband, but based on the statements provided, Gilman was charged with simple battery.

Arrest and Court Proceedings

Following the altercation, Gilman was taken into custody by Boca Raton police. She was processed at the Boca Raton Police Department and subsequently booked into Palm Beach County Jail around 2:50 p.m. on Thursday. Gilman spent nearly a full day in jail before being released on her recognizance at approximately 2:30 p.m..

The court has issued several conditions for Gilman, including a no-contact order with her husband. Additionally, she is prohibited from consuming alcohol, illegal substances, or non-prescription drugs and will be subject to random drug testing. Despite the charges, Gilman has entered a plea of “not guilty.” A court date has yet to be scheduled, and further legal proceedings are pending. As the case moves forward, it will determine the outcome of this domestic dispute that spiraled into legal action.
