Florida: A dramatic police chase in Broward County culminated in a tense encounter between Florida Highway Patrol Officer Jefferson Guerrier and a fleeing suspect, Vintoya Charneice Woodard, 28, on September 17.
Dashcam Footage Reveals Tense Encounter
The high-stakes incident, captured on the officer’s dashcam, began shortly before 6 p.m. when Guerrier attempted to pull over a Lincoln sedan with an expired license plate on Southwest 10th Street, near the Sawgrass Expressway (State Road 869). However, Woodard refused to stop, prompting a chase that would soon escalate.
As Woodard evaded law enforcement, she nearly collided with two other vehicles and disregarded a red traffic light. The officer pursued her for approximately three minutes until she entered Interstate 95 heading south. Recognizing the potential danger, Guerrier executed a Precision Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver, a tactic designed to safely disable a fleeing vehicle. The maneuver caused Woodard’s car to spin and come to a halt.
Tensions Rise as Officer Confronts Woodard
The footage shows Woodard exiting her vehicle while Guerrier orders her to put her hands in the air and get on the ground. In a state of distress, she immediately expressed concern for her newborn child, who was also in the car. “Can I get my baby?” she pleads, standing back up despite the officer’s commands.
Guerrier insists that she comply with his orders, stating, “You’re under arrest.” Woodard’s desperation is palpable as she continues to plead for her child, emphasizing that her baby suffers from acid reflux and is a NICU graduate. The trooper remains focused on the situation, questioning why she chose to run. Woodard responds candidly, acknowledging that she knew her license was suspended, which prompted her flight.
“You hit a car back there; you ran. That’s a felony,” Guerrier explains. He adds that he could have issued her a ticket, but her actions made that impossible. As the emotional exchange continues, Woodard begs for leniency, asserting that her child has no one else to care for her.

The tension escalates as the cries of the baby can be heard in the background. Eventually, another officer and paramedics arrive on the scene. Guerrier reassures Woodard that they will check on the baby and contact her sister.
